The SONCOZ SGL7 combines a fully balanced analog signal path, relay-controlled R-2R attenuation and separately powered analog and digital control sections. Whether you are settling in for a late-night vocal album or switching to a large-scale orchestral recording, its gain settings and three analog voicing modes let you tailor your setup without DSP.

Precision Relay-Controlled Volume

A 12-bit R-2R resistor network uses sealed relays rather than a sliding potentiometer for attenuation. The specified adjustment range is -54 dB to 0 dB in 0.25 dB steps, with channel tracking error below 0.05 dB. Fine adjustment helps you set a comfortable listening level while maintaining left/right balance.

Separate Analog and Digital Power Paths

Independent transformer windings, rectification and regulation serve the audio stages and digital control circuitry. This separation is designed to reduce control-circuit noise entering the analog signal path. The supplied specification lists a 3 µV noise floor.

Controlled Switching for Reduced Transients

An MCU manages relay timing during startup, shutdown and input changes. Muting and sequencing are designed to reduce switching transients, helping provide smoother operation when changing sources.

Gain Matching and Three Analog Voicing Modes

Select 0 dB, +3 dB or +6 dB gain to match your source output level and downstream equipment. Set gain conservatively to avoid overloading the next component.

• Neutral Balanced: intended for a neutral, open presentation and precise imaging.
• Warm Vocal: intended for a fuller, more intimate presentation suited to vocal-focused listening.
• Dynamic Resolution: intended to emphasize transient clarity, separation and dynamic presentation.

The voicing modes adjust analog-stage operating parameters rather than applying digital equalization. Perceived differences will depend on your source, amplifier, speakers and recordings.

Five Inputs and Flexible Outputs

Connect up to two balanced XLR sources and three RCA line-level sources. Two XLR outputs and one RCA output provide options for compatible power amplifiers, active speakers or a powered subwoofer. The RCA output is not specified as a dedicated filtered subwoofer output.

For vinyl playback, connect the output of a suitable external phono preamplifier. Do not connect a turntable cartridge directly to a line-level input unless the turntable has a built-in phono stage. Digital sources need an analog output or a separate DAC.

Display, Memory and Everyday Control

The 3.7-inch IPS LCD has a 240 × 960 resolution, five brightness levels and four seasonal interface themes. Front-panel buttons and a multifunction rotary encoder provide direct operation. Each of the five inputs stores its own volume, gain and voicing settings, retained after power-off.

The supplied documentation describes standby after a 90-second muted or idle period followed by a 10-second countdown. Front-panel or remote commands wake the unit. Infrared remote operation is available with the remote-equipped variants.

CNC Aluminum Chassis and System Trigger

A CNC-machined aluminum enclosure uses separate internal compartments for power, amplification and control circuitry. The 430 mm-wide chassis weighs 8 kg. Trigger input/output uses 3.5 mm mono connections with a specified 5–12 V DC range for compatible equipment.
